STD Clinical Training Courses
STD clinical training courses provide up-to-date information to public and private clinicians who diagnose, treat, and manage patients with STDs. Most courses devote 50% of class time to clinical and laboratory experience under the guidance of a qualified preceptor. Standard clinical training courses are 3- to 5-days in length, but PTCs also offer clinical training courses in the following formats:
- I - to 2-hour "Grand Rounds"
- Teleconferencing
- Home Study
- On-site Courses (upon request)
- WEB-based Courses
Behavioral and Social Intervention Training
The Behavioral and Social Intervention Training courses are intended to assist a diverse audience of health professionals in public, private, and community sectors. These courses are designed to develop skills and strategies to prevent or reduce behaviors that place persons at risk for STD or HIV infections. Most courses include an experiential component, and they are best suited for providers who deliver STD and l-IIV interventions directly to clients, supervisors of those providers, and persons who plan STD/HIV intervention programs in a community- or clinic-based setting. Upon request, some courses can be brought to local communities. Courses based on CDC's Compendium of HIV Prevention Interventions with Evidence ol FI/ketiveness are in development and will be available soon.
Partner Services and Program Support Training
Partner Services and Program Support Training courses are designed for federal, state, and local public health professionals, especially those working in STD/HIV prevention programs. Several courses focus on training to help develop the skills of disease intervention specialists and prevention counselors; other courses are designed to support STD and HIV prevention programs at state, local, and community levels. Courses range from I day to 2 weeks, and experiential leaming under the guidance of qualified preceptors is integral to all the course offerings.
